lake-inspired Living & Dining Room interior Design
Mountain Island Lake, Charlotte, NC
After finding the home of their dreams, Christie and Garrett needed help realizing its potential upon entering a new phase of life. As soon-to-be empty nesters, the pair wanted a comfortable place to enjoy downtime and entertain loved ones. Though their girls are close to flying the coop, their home has to hold up to fur babies. A sectional perfect for lounging or gatherings is *gasp* white, but, not to worry, the performance fabric is easy to clean. A neutral color palette layered with pops of blue and hints of coral keeps the lake view front and center. A tribute to the power of paint, sun-bleached walls, and gloss white built-ins refresh the entire space.

Living Room Design:
Lakefront Comfort with a Pop of Blue
As soon-to-be empty nesters, Christie and Garrett wanted a space that would welcome family, friends, and four-legged companions alike. Anchored by a sleek white sectional from Younger Furniture, upholstered in performance fabric built to withstand daily life, the room balances comfort and durability without sacrificing style.
A neutral foundation lets the view of Mountain Island Lake take center stage, while pops of blue and coral add playful energy. Accents like Ballard Designs pillows, a layered rug from Surya, and artisan florals by Noble Artistry Designs give the space texture and warmth. Console tables from Accents Beyond, finished in Sherwin-Williams Marea Baja, tie the room together with a touch of local craftsmanship.
The styling mixes everyday favorites - like baskets, trays, and florals from HomeGoods and World Market - with statement pieces, including wall flowers from Uttermost and a vintage dough bowl found at The Depot at Gibson Mill. The result is a space that feels elevated yet livable, polished yet personal.

Dining Room Design:
Refined Layers with a Collected Touch
We designed the dining room as a place where everyday meals and special gatherings feel equally at home. A Bungalow 5 table base anchors the space, paired with Four Hands dining chairs for a modern yet approachable mix. To make the room truly unique, we topped the base with a custom wood surface handcrafted by Christopher Roberts Furniture & Design, along with a coordinating bench that adds flexibility for larger family dinners.
Soft, tailored shades by Sew Unordinary Drapery with Graber Hardware filter natural light and keep the focus on the backyard views. Overhead, an Arteriors chandelier brings sculptural interest, balancing crisp architectural lines with a touch of drama. We kept the backdrop fresh and timeless with Benjamin Moore Super White, while seasonal florals by Florabell from Charlotte, North Caroline, bring life, color, and a sense of celebration to the table.

Foyer Design: A Welcoming First Impression
We styled the foyer to set the tone for the home with a balance of polish and warmth. A Universal console provided the perfect anchor, layered with Uttermost blue vases and a round mirror for symmetry and impact.
We tucked Ballard Designs stools beneath the console for flexible seating and added a vintage lamp from The Depot at Gibson Mill to introduce character and history. Accessories like a wooden chain from Target, decorative books, and a simple bowl from HomeGoods brought texture and personality to the vignette. Finished in Sherwin-Williams Sunbleached, the walls keep the entry light and airy, creating a fresh welcome into the home.
