Living Room, Home Library & Kitchen Interior Design
Downtown Huntersville, NC
After renovating to give new life to their old home in Huntersville, North Carolina, Andrea and Stephen were stumped on how to make sense of their now open and oddly situated floor plan. “We just keep thinking that taking down so many walls was a huge mistake!”
With a fireplace centered in the middle of a long and narrow room and a gaping space at the end of the kitchen island, they knew they needed help. We gave this historic Huntersville home a chic facelift, making it bright, comfortable, and ideal for entertaining.

The client story
“Never having worked with a designer before, we had no idea what to expect. My husband and I live in a house built in the 40s and needed help making the home’s unique layout suitable for today's lifestyle. Misty came up with ideas to redesign the flow of our house so that it now works for our family. The result was functional, beautiful, and something we could have never done alone. Misty started working on our project just before COVID. Even during a pandemic, she managed expectations while maintaining a cheerful disposition.”

Kitchen Refresh Design: Blending Beauty & Function
Our goal was to elevate the historic kitchen’s livability without a full renovation. With a large, unused space at the end of the island, homeowners Stephen and Andrea turned to us for help making their kitchen both welcoming and functional. We styled the area to create seamless flow from the island into the adjoining library, centering the space around a stunning two-tone wood and white dining table handcrafted by Jesus Was a Carpenter—a local North Carolina artisan studio known for their heirloom-quality craftsmanship.
We layered in Birch Lane dining chairs for comfort and classic appeal, grounded the seating area with a cozy Surya rug, and added vibrant abstract artwork from Etsy and Picture Salon to infuse personality. Subtle texture from Brewster Home wallpaper and seasonal floral arrangements by Florabell NC bring warmth and a lived-in elegance that transforms this kitchen into a true heart-of-the-home space—ideal for everyday meals and impromptu gatherings alike.

Modern Home Library
This home library blends sophisticated textures with playful touches. Whether you're pouring a drink from the spirits nook or sinking into a cozy reading chair, this library proves that thoughtful design can be both stylish and soul-soothing.
A custom bench cushion in Stroheim fabric pairs beautifully with Vervain-upholstered chairs, softened by Dana Gibson lumbar pillows in her signature Big Ditty print.
The built-in bookcase is backed with Brewster Home wallpaper, offering depth and dimension to the space, while modern cocktail and martini tables from West Elm Charlotte add function with flair.
Locally sourced accessories, like vintage finds from The Depot at Gibson Mill and floral arrangements by Florabell NC, bring a regional charm that grounds the design in North Carolina roots. The standout “Villeworth” sign—a nod to the homeowners' vision—was handcrafted at AR Workshop Belmont and AR Workshop Davidson, two NC-based DIY studios that specialize in personalized decor.
