A family of four added a punch of personality to their new build. Starting with a blank canvas, Keith and Amy wanted a relaxed family home layered with pops of bold color and unique pieces. From original artwork that nods to their roots in Chicago to playful patterns and a one-of-a-kind table built by an NC artisan, their story seeps into each space. Though big on impact, the rooms are kid- and puppy-friendly, meant for living and not just looking.
Living Room Design:
Bold Color Meets Everyday Comfort
We transformed the living room into a playful yet practical space that reflects the family’s personality. Neutral foundations - like a Rowe Fine Furniture sofa and tailored Skyline Furniture ottomans - create balance for the bursts of color layered throughout.
We styled accent chairs from Four Hands with Alison Conover lumbar pillows and topped the sofa with custom pillows in Thibaut and Schumacher fabrics, trimmed with coordinating cording for extra detail. A butterfly motif pillow and vibrant pink accents bring energy to the seating area, while a Loloi rug grounds the space with pattern and warmth.
We added thoughtful touches like an Uttermost coffee table and drink table, an Accents Beyond console, and Visual Comfort lamps to round out the room with both function and style. Custom window treatments by Sew Unordinary Drapery - crafted from Schumacher fabric and finished with Design Elements hardware -frame the space and highlight the coffered ceiling, where a Regina Andrew chandelier makes a bold statement. Finished in Benjamin Moore Super White, the room feels both fresh and full of life, perfectly suited for family living.

Dining Room Design: A Modern Take on Classic Dining
We designed the dining room to feel both refined and family-friendly, layering clean lines with custom craftsmanship. The foundation is a Bungalow 5 table base paired with Franco dining chairs from Four Hands, topped with a one-of-a-kind wood surface handcrafted by Christopher Roberts Furniture & Design. A coordinating custom bench provides flexible seating, making the space perfect for both everyday meals and entertaining.
Soft, tailored shades by Sew Unordinary Drapery with Graber hardware frame the windows and filter natural light, keeping the focus on the stunning backyard view. Overhead, an Arteriors chandelier adds sculptural elegance, balanced by simple pendants that provide additional glow. Finished in Benjamin Moore Super White, the room is bright, fresh, and welcoming. Seasonal florals by Florabell, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, bring the final layer of color and life to the table.

We styled the bedroom to feel like a true retreat, layering luxurious textures with a calming palette. A Bassett Furniture bed anchors the room, dressed in tailored bedding and custom drapery from Eastern Accents. Shades by Sew Unordinary Drapery in Lake Norman, North Carolina, with Graber hardware bring softness to the windows while maintaining light control.
We added comfort and functionality with a Christopher Roberts custom ottoman upholstered in Bassett fabric, a Skyline vanity chair, and a pair of Bassett swivel chairs for reading or relaxing. Nightstands from Ballard Designs with custom knobs from Etsy add character, while an accent table from Bungalow 5 and Uttermost lamps elevate the space with refined detail.
Finished in Benjamin Moore Graytint, the walls provide a fresh backdrop for the mix of blush and teal accents throughout the room.

Playful Patterns with Personality
We created a space that reflects the kids’ personalities while still fitting seamlessly into the home’s overall design. In the bedroom, we styled Pottery Barn Kids beds with playful bedding and custom cushions by Alison Conover, upholstered in Thibaut fabric with cording from Etsy for a tailored finish. Built-in shelving and a cozy window seat make the room as functional as it is fun, while a vibrant rug and original art by Pamela Wingard add cheerful pops of color. Shades by Sew Unordinary Drapery in Lake Norman, North Carolina, with Graber hardware bring a soft, finished touch to the windows.
The adjoining bath carries the playful vibe more graphically. We wrapped the walls in Serena & Lily wallpaper for bold contrast, balancing it with clean lines and a modern sink. The result is a space that blends everyday function with layers of personality—perfect for kids to grow into.
