bold Home Office & Music Studio design

Parker and Ari needed help finishing their home ASAP. With a 2-year-old kiddo and another one on the way, the couple had no time to figure out how to design their home. With an elegant style and a love of timeless design, we tackled the challenge of creating a multi-purpose space. As a lawyer and Phish cover band keyboardist, Parker’s color-saturated sanctuary is a home office by day and a musician’s studio by night.

Designed for focus and creativity, this Birkdale home office proves that productivity and personality can coexist. With bold color, layered textures, and meaningful accessories, the space reflects the client’s passions—including music, art, and planning for big ideas.
We started with Sherwin-Williams’ Deep Sea Dive SW 7618, expertly applied by local pros at 360° Painting of Lake Norman, to create a rich, energizing backdrop. A pair of modern West Elm sconces from the Charlotte showroom flank the desk area, providing both function and balance. The warm wood Riverside desk and tailored Bassett Furniture desk chair offer comfort and classic structure—anchored by a vibrant Surya rug for just the right amount of pop underfoot.
Storage was key in this multifunctional space. We paired sculptural Uttermost cabinets beside the piano with a sleek Catalina cabinet from North Carolina-based Century Furniture, known for their exceptional craftsmanship. Above the TV, open shelving from World Market adds an airy touch and provides display space for a carefully curated mix of books, plants, and locally sourced accessories.
Touches like window treatments from Simply Salvage, framed prints from artist @aroccoart, and a vintage Yamaha piano add soul and story to the room. The finishing touch? Personal accessories from The Depot at Gibson Mill and Gaston Pickers—two beloved North Carolina antique spots—ensure the space feels collected, not catalog.
